Probably because A9II was compared with 1DXIII while R5 was compared with A7R3 and A7R4.You can also say the Canon R5 is of better value than 1DXIII. @Stakeouttoo, you can't claim a camera is unfinished because you didn't get your beloved GPS feature. The mods need to give RD a vacation again. Did not notice much of a difference in AF performance. which is a perfect combination. As we continue to test Nikon's update of its multimedia full-framer, we've added more of our findings so far on image quality, dynamic range and video quality. The straight-out-of-cam files are very pleasant for my taste. We compare the Canon EOS R6, Nikon Z6 II, Panasonic S5 and Sony a7 III. It has arguably the best eye and head detect AF and animal eye AF. !It's like an old DSLR , I know it has nothing to do with IQ but common Canon you should change your designers. Nikon definitely wins the looks but it's missing things as a class leading hybrid. That is why for me 4 dials like Sony cameras is a must. Personally I could not care less about the 8K. There is a clunking noise and either the camera restarts or requires the battery to be removed. The R5 is the first Canon camera that makes me want to go back and I downloaded a bunch of raws, played with them in LrC - they are finally superb. This Canon R5 is indeed an awesome camera. @MILC...Keep paddling that sinking canoe....waters getting deeper, crocs are circling, credibility toast , @Onteo - "12fps*45MP with mechanical shutter being 540MP/s I would say it is not a slow sensor readout". Then there are the fabulous RF lenses which are other reason to own the system. Have I lower expectations or is this turning into a world of ostentation and less technique? Overall, the R5 is a really pleasant camera to use. Planning to treat yourself to a new full-frame camera this holiday season? What scenario would you use that for? I also find that the R5 files hold up better at higher iso. But this is not quite a concern. Here, once again, Canon is simply top notch in its approach. and it costs A LOT more to manufacture. You are stuck with Sony and that’s fine. @Kandid - Yes, indeed that would be a nice idea. The lack of a GPS is not a bug to work out. This is from someone earlier. Bluewater offers the BEST HOLIDAY DEALS on underwater photo & video gear! to gin up fake d.r. @entomanThat was an extreme example, but let's be real: a ring dial is not nearly as good as a dial next to my aperture dial and it is not a permanent option on my camera. I already liked the top info screen inherited from the original EOS R, but itâs now complemented with more traditional controls including three dials and a joystick. EVF not as good as the R5 which makes R6 less appealing to OVF users. It even has better IBIS. ‘Frame duplication’, ‘overheating meltdown’ etc - a grain of truth distorted to make a ridiculous partisan point. Canon’s claim of it being the ‘worlds best stabilisation’ is a bold one, but it claims up to 8 stops effectiveness when paired with certain RF mount lenses such as the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L and RF 28-70mm f/2L. The R5 has established itself in the mirrorless world right now as the most complete all-around camera. I almost pulled the trigger on the arefive but am considering the zeesevenetwo (or zedseventwo for you non-English speakers ) but have decided against the alphasevenarefour. More on this after some intensive field usage. Kona Mike, 35 of the respondents were MILC and his pals. After shooting primarily mirrorless in the past 5 years it is inconceivable for me now to use something like a 1DX, it feels off-putting. They should have divulged the limitations right from the beginning, and concentrated promoting the camera's many other outstanding virtues. 200/2.0? That gives you separate dials for shutter, aperture, ISO and compensation. Speaking of which...confirming the first part of this review: the only thing I can say is that yes, it looks / feels solid and well built. NO. When closed, it keeps dust from the sensor, but remember the shutter curtains are actually more delicate and easy to damage than the sensor with its protective filter. NO.IF a single body is unable to work without overheating, would I accept one that feeds the video processing via cable to a gizmo with/without a screen that I can stick in my pocket? @Kandid glad to see Canon hired you as a brand ambassador. Previously the only other system which could lock onto an eye at this distance was Sony, but now Canonâs effectively matched it, while also tracking the subjectâs head when it turns away. But thanks to the gain applied by mirrorless cameras, it became easily visible in the viewfinder of the R5 and the camera would even autofocus on it and the stars around. Keep in mind that both 7R cameras and R5 have dual gain, but at slightly different ISO (Sony @ 640 ISO and Canon at 400 ISO). @plasnuare you basing your comment on the jpg posted images or you actually downloaded the Raw files and looked at these? Is higher better or worse?? If you update the firmware on RF lenses with IS, youâll see a plus symbol next to the hand icon, indicating enhanced stabilisation. Canon quotes up to 8 stops of compensation with the RF 24-105mm at 105mm, although in my tests I managed closer to five stops with this lens on the day. I didn't do the RAW thing. Above: Canon launched the EOS R5 alongside the more affordable R6, seen here on the left, and while the R5 employs greater magnesium alloy in its construction, not to mention more sophisticated top controls, both actually share a lot of features in common: full-frame sensors with built-in stabilisation claiming up to 8 stops of compensation, 12fps mechanical or 20fps electronic bursts, uncropped 4k up to 60p with dual pixel autofocus, fully-articulated screens, joysticks and dual card slots, albeit twin SD on the R6 vs SD and CF Express on the R5.
